BIIRGS AI² Fellowship

The BIIRGS AI² Fellowship is our newly refounded public-impact initiative dedicated to advancing democratic wellbeing, digital wellbeing, and societal resilience in the age of AI. Rooted in nonpartisan dialogue, evidence-led insight, and human-centered innovation, the Fellowship offers accessible pathways for emerging and established leaders across sectors to engage with the complex challenges shaping democracy, wellbeing, and technology.


Participation is offered at no cost to selected applicants, made possible through mission-aligned sponsorships.

About the BIIRGS AI² Fellowship

The BIIRGS AI² Fellowship is an interdisciplinary, nonpartisan learning and impact initiative designed to equip participants with the knowledge, confidence, and tools to navigate the shifting landscape of democracy, wellbeing, and influence in the age of artificial intelligence. We foster cross-sector dialogue and create opportunities for collaboration, leadership development, and community-centered innovation.


The Fellowship sits under BIIRGS' Amplifying Interconnectedness™ pillar and serves as the public-impact counterpart to the BIIRGS AI² Academy.



Fellowship Focus Areas


  • Democratic Wellbeing in the Age of AI –– Strengthening civic health, information integrity, and participatory resilience

  • Digital Wellbeing in the Age of AI –– Exploring mental health, identity, digital culture, and the emotional impacts of online ecosystems.

  • Corporate Influence in the Age of AI –– Understanding platform power, media capture, and the influence of corporate actors on public life.

Program Overview

The Fellowship is delivered virtually over 8 to 12 weeks, with optional in-person convenings for participants who wish to take part. All core programming is accessible remotely to ensure global participation without travel barriers.


Fellows engage in curated learning modules, cross-sector dialogue, high-level convenings with practitioners, and an applied capstone project. Participants who complete the program receive a certificate of completion and join the BIIRGS AI² Fellowship Alumni Network.

Who Should Apply

The Fellowship welcomes applicants from journalism, public policy, technology, civil society, education, health, and organizational leadership. Ideal candidates are curious, cross-disciplinary thinkers committed to understanding how AI is reshaping public life and contributing to healthier, more resilient systems.


Applications open Spring 2026. 


In the meantime, BIIRGS is building partnerships with universities, research institutions, think tanks, and organizations across private, public, and third sectors to expand reach, deepen expertise, and ensure the Fellowship reflects diverse perspectives from the start.
